The Kimura armlock is much older than you think. Here is the story:
In fact it predates Kimura, the art of Judo and even the nation of Japan.
This submission and control hold is so old that can be seen on this sculpture recovered in Turkmenistan dating back approximately 2,400 BC (shown above). After that it pops up in a 12th century Cambodian temple (shown above) and again in a German fighting manual dating to 1520 AD, among many other places.
So the next time your grappling instructor teaches a Kimura technique, return the favor and teach them where it comes from.
